As the great recession is following its disastrous course, it is probable that millions of jobs lost will be lost forever.
ReplyDeleteCorporations have discovered that they can achieve profitability with fewer amounts of employees. This also means that those who still do have a job will be asked to work overtime and harder. Architecture needs to adapt to this new situation. What are some of the outcomes?
There will be more urban density and less suburban sprawl.
Housing units will essentially be used for sleeping on weekdays and minimal relaxation during the week-ends.
The master bathrooms will replace living rooms and become mini spas.
Kitchen and dining rooms will be combined and will include a small home office area.
Modern condo buildings will contain social clubs for an increasing single’s population weary of the costs associated by forming a family.
As strip malls disappear, shops would relocate within urban condominium high rises.
Since we are living in an age of digital “noise” and we are being bombarded with useless data each minute, objects surrounding us should reflect a new minimalism and exhume tranquility.
